Learning to Love; Loving to Learn - Life in all its Fullness

Respect

Compassion

Service

Hope

Aspiration

Forgiveness

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to the first half of the Summer term. It has been wonderful to see the children returning to school and the sun has also tried very hard to put in an appearance too!

The children in all classes have got straight back into the swing of this and have enjoyed starting new books in English lessons and some year groups have started new topics too.

Yesterday, the whole school came together during worship time to learn about the London Marathon. Mr Day will be running his 10th London Marathon on Sunday and his 50th marathon in total! We wish him huge amounts of luck and are looking forward to our own mini-marathon next Monday.

Today children from Year 5 have been to a Rugby event at Barnstaple Rugby Club. They have had a wonderful, but tiring, day and as always represented out school with pride.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and get chance to enjoy the sunshine.

Warm regards,
The School Team

Collective Worship this week...

We've been focussing on aspiration this term.

This week, pupils reflected on what God wants for every child. By exploring schools around the world, they discussed how all children deserve food, safety and the chance to learn. Genesis 1:26 reminded us that everyone is made in God’s image, giving each person value and dignity. Linking to our vision of Learning to Love, children thought about fairness, compassion and how we care for others. Worship ended with quiet reflection and prayers of hope for a fairer world.

Questions to explore at home:

  • What do all children need to live well and feel safe?
  • Why do you think God cares about fairness and dignity?
  • How can we show “Learning to Love” in our family and community?
  • What small actions could help make the world fairer for others?

STARS THIS WEEK

Here are the children who have been shining by showing our church value of ASPIRATION this week ...

Aspiration

In everything he did, he had great

success because the Lord

was with him

Ash 2: BRODY

This week's aspiration award goes to Brody! We have been incredibly impressed with his attitude towards all of his learning. It has been wonderful to see how proud he is of his achievements

Rayner: ROSIE

This week I am awarding my star to Rosie for the aspiration she has shown in all aspects of the curriculum. I have been particularly impressed with her writing and phonics and she is an excellent role model to her peers. Well done Rosie and keep it up!

Percival: HARPER

This week, Percival's star for aspiration goes to Harper! Harper is incredibly aspirational in all of her learning and inspires others to also be the best they can be be. Well done Harper!

Duffy: SCARLETT

Scarlett, you should be really proud of the progress you’ve made over the last few weeks. Your focus in maths lessons has improved so much, and it’s great to see how hard you try even when the work is challenging. Practising your times tables at home is really paying off – you’re becoming quicker and more confident each time. Keep up the fantastic effort and continue believing in yourself. Well done!

Farook: ANELIYA

It has been an absolute pleasure to read the work completed so far in Writing - I am extremely impressed by your aspiration already this term. Aneliya, your sentences are exciting and keep the reader hooked. I am excited about your Writing future!

Evans: KANE

This week my star for aspiration goes to Kane. Kane has consistently shown aspiration this year by giving his learning 100% and asking what he can do next to improve further. He can now reap the rewards of his hard work and take this on to secondary school.

Shakespeare: IVAN

This week my star goes to Ivan. Ivan has been working incredibly hard during revision sessions this week and has insightful questions to support his learning. He is demonstrating his readiness for secondary school and I am so proud of him. Keep going Ivan!

Prefects: MALACHI

This week our star goes to Malachi. Malachi is really aspirational and he takes part in everything, especially in worship.
