Learning to Love; Loving to Learn - Life in all its Fullness

Respect

Compassion

Service

Hope

Aspiration

Forgiveness

It has been another busy and joyful week in school, and today marks the last day of this half-term. We ended the term with our special Pentecost Church Service this week, and we would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Mitchell for her dedication in preparing such a meaningful service. Our Ethos Team also did a wonderful job, working hard to learn their lines and confidently sharing the story and gift of the Holy Spirit with our school and wider community.

We are incredibly proud of the children who took part in the AIM High Writing Day for Year 5 and 6 pupils. Hosted in our Year 1 intervention room, it was a fantastic opportunity to work alongside children from local schools and celebrate a shared love of writing.

Today, the children were inspired by our MAF plane visit, learning how this charity supports people in hard-to-reach, war-torn areas by delivering vital supplies. It was a meaningful opportunity to reflect on gratitude and the importance of helping others.

Families are warmly invited to come and meet the team to find out more on Saturday 23rd May, between 11am and 3pm on the Square in Barnstaple. Please see the poster below for further details.

Ahead of the holidays, a gentle reminder that parking is limited on Bevan Road, so please make use of available spaces on neighbouring roads. We kindly ask everyone to be considerate when parking, avoiding yellow lines, to help keep all members of our community safe.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday 1st June 2026.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and for playing such a valued role in our school community.

Warm regards,

The Ashleigh School Team

Collective Worship this week...

This term, we have been exploring what a fair and hopeful world looks like, thinking about how working together can help make sure everyone is cared for.

We linked this to Jesus’ teaching: “Love your neighbour as yourself” (Matthew 22:39). This reminds us to show kindness, care for others, and build a world where everyone feels valued. It also reflects our school vision, “Learning to Love; Loving to Learn,” as we grow together as a caring community.

At home, you might like to reflect together:

  • What does a fair world look like to you?
  • How can we show love and kindness each day?
  • What small things can we do to help others?

Thank you for supporting these conversations!

STARS THIS WEEK

Here are the children who have been shining by showing our church value of ASPIRATION this week ...

Aspiration

In everything he did, he had great

success because the Lord

was with him

Ash 2: PHOEBE

This week, we are celebrating the aspiration that Phoebe is showing—not just in her own learning, but in that of her friends as well. While developing her own accurate counting skills, she has been setting up her own ‘school’ to help her friends practise their counting and number recognition.

Rayner: ADAM

My star of the week is Adam for always trying his very best in everything he does.

Percival: REGGIE

Percival's star this week goes to Reggie. As a class, we have been aspirational in our English learning to publish just like Year 5/6. Reggie has shown resilience in his writing, spending extra time to carefully publish his work and he has produced a beautiful journal. Well done Reggie, keep up the good work!

Duffy: STANLEY

Stanley has stretched himself this week, particularly in writing. His writing this week is the best it has ever been. Keep it up Stanley. Huge pat on the back.

Farook: ILKAY

Ilkay's commitment to bettering himself has been so wonderful to see. He is so determined and focused on achieving better and better each time - what a success story!

Evans: JAYDON

This week my star of the week goes to Jaydon. Jaydon has shown real aspiration in his approach to different ways of learning over the last few weeks and has shown fantastic resilience and ability to navigate change. I am super proud. Well done Jaydon!

Shakespeare: KANE

This week my star is Kane! He has listened to every piece of advice this week and he doesn't usually work in my class. I have loved working with him and I'm so impressed with his writing. He has incredible ideas and is joining his handwriting, even though he finds this difficult. So proud Kane!

Prefects: FAROOK CLASS

We want to thank Farook for giving up their classroom in order to allow us to succeed in our SATs. We are so grateful thank you Farook and Mrs Francis!
