Learning to Love; Loving to Learn - Life in all its Fullness

Forgiveness

It certainly feels like we’ve experienced a little bit of everything weather-wise recently—sunshine, showers, and everything in between! Despite this, our school has remained a hive of activity, with staff and pupils making the most of every opportunity.

Our teachers have been working incredibly hard putting the final touches on end-of-year reports, which will be shared with families at the end of next week. We hope these will give you a clear and celebratory picture of your child’s progress and achievements over the year.

On Wednesday, Mrs Mitchell and Miss Jenkins took a group of children from Years 2–6 to take part in the Olympic Legacy event hosted at Park School. They were thoroughly impressed with our pupils' excellent behaviour and positive attitudes throughout the day. We are proud to share that some of our pupils have received certificates today in recognition of their behaviour and determination—well done to all involved!

A special mention goes to our Year 5 pupils, who took part in the Mini Marathon event. Even though they knew they were unlikely to win, and despite other teams dropping out along the way, our children showed incredible grit and perseverance, completing the entire course. What true sports superstars—they represented our school brilliantly.

Looking ahead, Mr Day has been busy preparing for our Key Stage 2 Sports Day, which will take place on Thursday 25th June. The forecast suggests it will be a hot day, so please ensure your child comes to school with sun cream applied and a hat to keep them safe and comfortable.

As always, thank you for your continued support.

Warm regards,

The School Team

Collective Worship this week...

In our recent class worship, we explored the question: Why is forgiveness sometimes the bravest choice?

Using this image of a storm breaking into sunlight, the children reflected on how difficult moments can give way to hope and peace when we choose to forgive.

We looked at the words of Jesus in Luke 23:34, where he forgives others even while on the cross. This helped us understand that forgiveness is not a sign of weakness, but of great strength and love.

What we discussed

  • Forgiveness is not the same as saying “it didn’t matter.” The children recognised that hurt is real, and it’s important to acknowledge our feelings.
  • Forgiveness takes inner strength. We talked about the courage it takes to let go of anger and choose kindness instead.
  • Building peaceful communities. Linking to Sustainable Development Goal 16, we explored how forgiveness helps create safer, stronger communities where people can live and learn together in peace.

Our shared reflection

We thought about how forgiveness helps us:

  • feel lighter and more at peace
  • build trust in our friendships
  • create a classroom where everyone feels safe and valued

As part of our school ethos, we reminded the children:

When forgiveness is hard, we practise deep love.
We love learning when our classroom is a place of safety and trust.
Letting go of anger opens space for fullness of life.

We encourage you to continue these conversations at home, helping children to see forgiveness not as forgetting, but as a brave step towards healing and hope.

STARS THIS WEEK

Here are the children who have been shining by showing our church value of FORGIVENESS this week ...

Forgiveness

Love prospers when

fault is forgiven but

dwelling on it separates

close friends

Ash 2: ELAINE

This week, we are so proud of Elaine for showing not only forgiveness, but resilience and kindness as well. When her hard work was accidentally spoilt, she calmly accepted the disappointment and confidently tried again with a positive attitude. Well done, Elaine.

Rayner: AYDAH

Aydah is our star this week as she is extremely forgiving of everyone. She models how to forgive and forget in such a mature manner. Well done Aydah!

Percival: MARTIN

Martin has developed into a kind, caring and forgiving friend. He is able to reflect on different situations and uses fantastic oracy skills to voice his thoughts in a mature and sensitive way. Well done Martin, keep it up!

Duffy: LOUIE

Sometimes Louie can get very cross with himself. Recently he has been working on showing forgiveness for himself and realising that one bad choice or mistake doesn't mean everything is wrong and that things can be put right.

Farook: RENAE

The way you have been speaking during class worship and PDW lessons about forgiveness has been enjoyable to hear and on top of that to hear how you are trying to be the best type of friend to your peers. It makes me proud seeing you flourish!

Evans: FRANKIE and ARI

This week Frankie and Ari both get my star award. Both children took part in the mini marathon event on Wednesday, volunteering and completing an amazing 6 laps of the 200m course. What impressed me the most, was the way that when they were up against runners who were older and more experienced long distance runners, both completed the entire course - never giving up and seeing the event through to the end. Well done to both of you for showing true Ashleigh spirit!

Shakespeare: DANI

Dani is my star this week. She has such a good attitude, will always forgive others - even if it's difficult - and is just an all round role model. Even though we are in a different timetable at the moment, she is bringing the energy, the right attitude and the commitment and respect to the team. Thanks Dani!

Special Award: DANI

Mrs Mitchell would like to give Dani a Special Service award this week. On the way to and from Olympic Legacy this week Dani supported younger children with road crossings which enabled Miss Jenkins and Mrs Mitchell to focus on the route and manage the crossings. She was also incredible at helping the staff to get some very tired legs all the way home. Well done Dani.
