What a wonderful final week it has been at Ashleigh, filled with both exciting transitions and special celebrations.

We began the week by visiting our new classes. Through ice-breakers, sporting activities and creative artwork, children had the opportunity to get to know their new teachers and classmates. We hope they have come away feeling excited for the year ahead and have enjoyed reading their new teacher's welcome letter.

It has also been a significant week for our Year 6 pupils as they prepare for the next stage of their journey. On Wednesday, they attended the It's Your Move transition day at Trinity Church, returning feeling empowered and, in their own words, more like a "family" than ever. That evening, we welcomed parents and carers to celebrate all that our Year 6 children have achieved during their time at Ashleigh. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognise their many talents and successes.

The celebrations continued with a fantastic disco, where children showed off their dance moves, enjoyed the photo booth and tucked into hot dogs and drinks. It was a truly memorable evening and a fitting way to mark the end of their primary school years.

On Thursday, Year 6 received their SATs results. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved and wish them every success as they move on to their next adventure. We hope they take the Ashleigh spirit with them wherever they go.

As this is our final newsletter of the academic year, we would like to thank all of our children, families and staff for their support throughout the year.

A reminder that the last day of term is Tuesday 21st July.

We wish everyone a happy, restful and enjoyable summer break. ☀️

Warm regards,
The School Team

Collective Worship this week...

This week, we reflected on Jesus' words from Matthew 5:9: "Blessed are the peacemakers." Through stories, discussion and images of peacemaking in everyday life, we explored how simple acts of kindness, forgiveness and understanding can help create peaceful, happy communities where everyone can thrive.

Talk Together
What does it mean to be a peacemaker? How can forgiveness help build peace? Can you think of a time when a small act of kindness or understanding made a difference to someone else?
Reflect
Peacemakers show love through their actions. By helping others, listening carefully and resolving disagreements calmly, we can help make our classrooms, homes and communities safe and welcoming places. We also considered how this links to SDG 16: promoting peaceful and inclusive communities.
Try This Week
Challenge yourself to be a peacemaker each day. You could help solve a disagreement, include someone in a game, listen to a friend who needs support, or offer forgiveness when things go wrong. Notice the difference that these small acts can make.

STARS THIS WEEK

Here are the children who have been shining by showing our church value of FORGIVENESS this week ...

Forgiveness

Love prospers when

fault is forgiven but

dwelling on it separates

close friends

Ash 2: AEITHEN and AMELIA

This week, we are delighted to celebrate two Stars of the Week: Aeithen and Amelia.

Aeithen can always be relied upon to show kindness and compassion towards his friends. He is often the first to offer a helping hand and a warm smile to anyone who needs it, making him a wonderful role model in our classroom.
Amelia has shown great maturity and resilience. She is developing an excellent ability to move forward positively when things do not go quite as planned, demonstrating a thoughtful and determined attitude to learning and friendships.
Well done, Aeithen and Amelia! We are very proud of you both.

Rayner: ALEC

My star of the week for forgiveness goes to Alec for his kindness and compassion. He carefully considers the feelings of other and shows forgiveness with thoughtfulness. Well done Alec!

Percival: CLEO and RUONA

Our stars this week go to Cleo and Ruona! They are the peace keepers of Percival and are both incredibly patient in tricky situations. Their mature outlook on life helps other children to be forgiving towards others. Well done Cleo and Ruona!

Duffy: ILKAY

I think Ilkay is one of the most laid back people I have met. There doesn't seem to be much that phases him and he is always ready to quickly move on and get on with living an uncomplicated happy life.

Farook: MEGAN

It has been lovely to see you blossom and it has been wonderful to see you build up new friendships. I cannot wait to see these friendships continue to flourish!

Evans: ALL of YEAR 5

This week's star goes to all the Year 5s who have shown remarkable maturity, resilience and positivity, especially when there have been last-minute changes to plans and routines as we come to the end of the school year.  Well done Year 5, you are all stars!

Shakespeare: KANE

Kane is just the light of the classroom! He is an incredible member of the class and we are very lucky to have him. You will be amazing next year Kane!

Special Service Award: PEYTON

A note from Mrs Welch: "I would like to award a Special Service award to Peyton for her help over the past school year. If I have ever needed a job done she is always the first to volunteer and has kept me very organised all year! Thank you Peyton!"
