Learning to Love; Loving to Learn - Life in all its Fullness

Respect

Compassion

Service

Hope

Aspiration

Forgiveness

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome Back to the Second Half of the Spring Term!

We hope you all had a really lovely and restful half term. It has been such a joy to have the children back in school this week - the corridors feel lively again, and the classes have jumped straight back into their learning with brilliant enthusiasm. Duffy Class have already begun exploring their new text, Escape from Pompeii, and Year 5 enjoyed a fantastic day with Mr Day as they completed their Sports Leaders training.

This half term, our new Church School Value is Hope, and we look forward to exploring this theme together—thinking about what hope looks like in our learning, our friendships, and the wider world.

We also have an exciting week ahead. Our Year 5/6 children will be heading off on their residential to St George’s House, which is always a highlight of the year. We’re also very much looking forward to a special Zoom call with Uganda, where we’ll receive an update from the child we sponsor and speak with pupils involved in Edukid projects. Martin from the Chance to Shine cricket programme will be joining us again to lead cricket sessions, and some of our Year 3/4 girls from Duffy and Farook Classes will be celebrating International Women’s Day by taking part in a Football Festival at Tarka Leisure Centre.

Below is an updated list of our P.E. days for this half term:

In addition to our regular timetable, Mr Day continues to work hard to organise visitors, trips and special activities. We will always share information with you in advance when these opportunities arise.

We also understand that if your child has P.E. on two consecutive days, washing kit in between can be tricky. If this happens, please just ensure they have suitable footwear for P.E.—their usual white polo shirt and school uniform will be absolutely fine.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday!

Collective Worship this week...

This week we explored our new Church School Value of Hope by thinking about how a tiny seed holds the potential to grow into something wonderful. Hope works the same way in us—starting small but helping us keep going and believe in what we can become.

We also linked this to SDG 4: Quality Education, which reminds us that every child deserves a safe school, good teaching and the right support. Just as seeds need sunlight and good soil, children need education so their potential can flourish.

Reflective questions you might like to explore at home:

  • What does hope mean to you as a family?
  • When have you shown hope, even when something felt difficult?
  • What are your hopes for the term ahead?
  • How does learning help your hopes and dreams grow?

STARS THIS WEEK

Here are the children who have been shining by showing our church value of HOPE this week ...

Hope

But those who hope in

the Lord will renew their

strength

Ash 2: ELAINE

This week, we are celebrating Elaine for the hope that always shines through when she is learning something new. Elaine; thank you for being such a wonderful role model for the other children in Ashlings

Rayner: SAMUEL

Samuel is getting my star this week for the hopeful attitude he displays to all his adult led tasks. He is a joy to work with due to his positive and hopeful attitude.

Percival: ADON

This week Adon is Percival's star for 'hope' because he is an aspirational learner.

Duffy: LILI

Lili starts each day anew. She often talks of 'hope' for things to get better for her peers when any of them are having a tricky time. Thank you Lili for sharing your 'hope' with us all.

Farook: HERMIONE

Hermione has absolutely shone with 'hope' in the way that she has approached her writing this week - it has been an absolute pleasure to read her final piece. Well done, Hermione!

Evans: FINLEY
This week's star award goes to Finley in Evans teaching group. Finley always goes for his own goals and strives to be the best he can be. Well done!

Shakespeare: RUBY

Ruby has come back beautifully and is always ready for learning. She has used her voice as a prefect and as an incredible young woman this week and we are so proud of her. Keep being your strong, kind self Ruby!

Prefects: HUNTER

This week we have chosen Hunter.  He is very respectful and very kind, he never argues and follows all the rules .... and he's just "that guy".
