W/C 2nd February
What a busy week!
In maths, we have been practising our subitising skills and we are getting very good at recognising different amounts without the need to count. Here are some of the activities that have helped us to subitise.

Some children from Miss Dawe's phonics group have been practising their Fred Spelling so they can independently write words with sounds that they know.

This week in our maths lessons, we have been exploring the book ‘Ten Black Dots’ to help us develop our counting skills. Each page shows how black dots can become something new; a sun, wheels, seeds, balloons, and much more!
We decided to make our own black dot pictures. This activity helped us to practise counting, subitising, fine motor skills, and express our creativity!
We have had a very busy week learning and retelling the story of The Gingerbread Man. The children have used puppets and props to retell the story; making sure that they included the repeated phrase of “run, run as fast as you can! You can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man!” Have they told you the story yet?
We discussed what we liked or disliked about the story and then the children drew pictures of their favourite parts.
There were smiles all around yesterday as we spent the morning decorating gingerbread biscuits. They were clearly delicious as I saw lots of them being munched on the way home!
