Learning to Love; Loving to Learn - Life in all its Fullness
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a wonderful week we’ve had in school!
It has been lovely looking through the class pages for March.
Our youngest children in Ashlings have been working hard on their phonics and creating beautiful observational paintings of daffodils. We cannot wait to see these pieces of art brighten up our corridors!
Year 1 have been enjoying The Odd Egg, stepping into character to inspire their writing, even when this was tough, you still showed great hope!
Across the school, everyone has been loving their cricket coaching sessions with Martin. In Years 3 and 4, children have been busy writing imaginative alternative endings to Escape from Pompeii, while Year 5 and 6 have been settling back into routines after their residentials, showing great resilience.
We ended the week with Ashleigh’s Book Day, coming to school in pyjamas or comfy clothes for a joyful celebration of reading. Children enjoyed book‑themed activities and a book swap organised by Mrs Mitchell — we hope they’re thrilled with their new reads! Thank you so much to the parents who took part in this event—your involvement made it possible.

A quick reminder, as well as our formal Parents’ Evenings in Summer Term, we would love to invite you to visit your child’s classroom after school on Wednesday, 18th March. This is a lovely opportunity to look through the children’s books, explore their recent learning, and see the wonderful progress they are making.
This is a great opportunity to have an informal conversation with your child’s teacher. If you would like to discuss anything in more detail or require a more private consultation, please feel free to speak with the teacher after school during the week or request a separate appointment or phone call.
Warm regards,
The School Team
Collective Worship this week...
This week we explored the story of Paul and Silus.
Even when Paul and Silas were thrown into a dark, uncomfortable prison, they didn’t give up. They were tired, hurt, and afraid - but instead of losing hope, they sang songs to God and prayed. Their courage didn’t come from everything being easy; it came from believing that God was with them, even in the hardest moments.

Their story teaches us that:
- Hope helps us stay strong when life feels difficult.
- We can choose to keep going, even when things aren’t going our way.
- There are different ways to cope—singing, praying, talking, breathing, and asking for help.
We explored some questions, such as: What helps you stay hopeful when learning feels tough? How does learning new skills—like reading or problem-solving—help us deal with challenges?
