Learning to Love; Loving to Learn - Life in all its Fullness

    Dear Parents and Carers

As we reach the end of a busy and successful half term, we would like to celebrate the many wonderful experiences, achievements and memories our children have made since returning to school in September.
In Year 1, children have demonstrated fantastic learning behaviours across the curriculum. Their enthusiasm, resilience and determination have helped them make a brilliant start to the year.
Our children in Carle Class have been busy getting green-fingered during Forest School sessions, embracing opportunities to learn outdoors, develop new skills and enjoy the natural environment.
Across Key Stage 2, classrooms have been buzzing with creativity as children have worked hard to publish their final pieces of writing. The finished outcomes are a real testament to their effort and growing confidence as writers. With so much fantastic work to celebrate, Farook Class will continue completing their final published pieces during the first week back after half term. It has been wonderful to see our young authors blossom this term.

Celebrating Attendance

At Ashleigh, we know that good attendance helps children feel happy, confident and successful in their learning. We also understand that some absences, such as illness, are unavoidable.
Children who achieve 100% attendance each half term will receive a special attendance sticker. As this resets every half term, every child has a fresh opportunity to work towards this achievement throughout the year.
We will also celebrate children who achieve 100% attendance across a whole term, and those who achieve 100% attendance for the entire academic year will receive a special 100% Attendance Pin Badge at the end of the summer term.
Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend school regularly and make the most of every learning opportunity. Further information regarding attendance can be found on our school website.
Please remember: today is the last day before half-term. We will be welcoming children back on Monday, 2nd November.

As we head into half term, we would like to thank all our families for your ongoing support. We hope you enjoy a restful break filled with family time, fun and special memories. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting half term of learning and success.

Happy Half Term from everyone at Ashleigh

COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

Here is what we've been learning about this week in Collective Worship ...

This week, we explored the story of Blind Bartimaeus and learned how Jesus showed love, kindness and inclusion. We discussed how everyone is unique and valuable, and that all people deserve respect, support and equal opportunities to flourish.

This links closely to our vision of Loving to Learn, Learning to Love and Living Life in All Its Fullness.

    • Talk together

  • How did Jesus show kindness to Bartimaeus?
  • Why is it important to include everyone?
  • How can we help someone who might need extra support?

Reflect

How can we follow Jesus' example and make sure everyone feels welcome, valued and included?

Try this week

Carry out one act of inclusion each day, such as inviting someone to join a game, helping a friend, or encouraging someone with kind words. At the end of the week, talk about how your actions helped others feel respected and cared for.

STARS THIS WEEK

Here are the children who have been shining by showing our church value of RESPECT this week ...

Respect

Show respect to everyone,

love other believers, and

honour authority

Ash 2: ARCHIE

Archie for consistently demonstrating our school value of respect. He is always kind
and considerate towards others, listens carefully when his friends and adults are speaking, and takes
great pride in caring for our classroom environment and resources. Archie is a wonderful role
model who shows respect in everything he does. We are very proud of you, Archie!

Rayner: ISABELLA
This week's Star of the Week for Respect goes to Isabella. Isabella always shows beautiful manners
and treats others with kindness and consideration.  Recently, I have also noticed her beginning to show greater
respect for her own learning by putting more effort into her work and taking pride in what she achieves.
Well done, Isabella.  We are proud of you!
Jha: PEYTON and HUDSON
Peyton has shown respect in the way that speaks to people, her politeness and her patience
when people around her may not be making the right choices.

Hudson has worked so hard to gain s respect award. Thank you Hudson for your commitment to showing
respect to your peers and staff at school. Keep it up.

Duffy: KEIRA

Keira is a pleasure a teach and has settled in incredibly since joining Ashleigh.

She is always polite, kind and caring towards her peers and adults in the classroom.
Well done Keira!

Farook: JESSA, CHLOE and THEA

Chloe just oozes positivity.  Thank you for your kindness, hard work and respect.

Jessa, it has been lovely to watch you grow both academically and as a person.
Thank you for the time and energy that you put into your learning.
A great example of self-respect.

Thea, watching you grow this year, has been a pleasure.  It has been wonderful to see how you can be independent and also
seek help.  You show great learning behaviours.  Thank you.

Evans: ALANA and ABIGAIL
I couldn't let our last certificate for respect go past without recognising Alana and Abigail.
These two girls show respect and kindness every day in every interaction they have. What an honour it is to
have these two in my class! Well done!

Shakespeare: NIRAV

Nirav is one of the most respectful children I have had the pleasure of working with.

He always tells me to 'have a lovely evening' and asks how I am.
He is just so kind, and also respects other children in the class. His learning behaviours are excellent
and I am excited to see how far he goes this year!

Prefects: KAYSON

Kayson is our star for being so happy, respectful and kind to others.

He comes in everyday and seems really happy and we are lucky to have him here
at Ashleigh.

Our youngest children in Ashlings have been exploring their senses, making lifelong memories as they discover what they can see, hear, smell, taste and feel. Their curiosity and sense of wonder have been a delight to see.
